Saline County Jail Overview
Saline County Jail / Saline County Detention Center is operated by the Saline County Sheriff's Office in Marshall. Official county and sheriff sources identify it as the only detention facility physically located in Saline County for local public-custody purposes. No separate city jail, regional jail, state prison, BOP prison, or ICE detention center was located in the county during research.
The jail holds local detainees after arrest, warrant service, booking, and court movement. It also holds local sentenced inmates where applicable. The sheriff's jail page says the Jail Division has 9 full-time commissioned and non-commissioned officers. Staff monitor 8 male pods, 1 female pod, and 3 holding cells from the housing desk through windows, cameras, and intercoms.
Saline County Jail Population
Official Saline County pages did not publish a rated bed capacity. The research file found a BJS-derived 2013 local jail figure of 84 for Saline County Jail, plus about 70 current roster entries on June 19, 2026. Those figures should not be merged into a single capacity statement. The 2013 number is a historic jail population figure, and the 2026 count is a live roster snapshot.
| Population Fact | Figure | Source / Date |
|---|---|---|
| Current roster count | About 70 | Sheriff current roster, inspected June 19, 2026 |
| 48-hour releases | 5 visible entries | Sheriff release roster, inspected June 19, 2026 |
| Historic local jail figure | 84 | Prisoners of the Census / BJS-derived 2013 data |
| Rated bed capacity | Not published | Official sheriff and county pages reviewed June 2026 |
The county's Jail & Justice Center 2023 Renovation page lists an approximate project cost of $3.6 million and a May 2026 completion date. It does not publish a bed-count change, new capacity, or new population policy.
The renovation image supports the building-history point, while custody and roster counts still come from the sheriff roster and jail page.
Look Up Saline County Jail Inmates
The correct lookup for Saline County Jail / Saline County Detention Center is the sheriff's Detention Center roster chooser. The current roster covers people still in local custody. The release roster covers people released from the detention center within the last 48 hours. If neither list shows the person, the next steps are phone verification, an in-person sheriff office inquiry where appropriate, or a written Missouri Sunshine Law request for older booking records.
- Open the roster chooser and select Current Inmates for active local custody.
- Use Search By Name, or select Show All if the name search misses a spelling variation.
- Use the sort and pagination controls to check newer or older booking entries.
- Open View Profile for mugshot, booking number, booking date, charges, and bond terms.
- Call 660-886-5512 before posting bond because charges and bail can change after court.
Sentenced state prisoners are not searched through the county jail once they transfer to MODOC custody. Use the Missouri DOC Offender Search for active state offenders, probationers, and parolees. Federal and immigration custody use the BOP and ICE locators, not the Saline County roster.

Booking at Saline County Jail
The sheriff jail page says all jail staff are required to book subjects who enter the jail. Book-ins include general information, photographs, fingerprinting, medical information, and emergency contact information. After intake, staff classify and monitor people in pods or holding cells. New booking information feeds the public roster, but the sheriff does not publish a guaranteed refresh interval.
Jail staff also move inmates to a courtroom within the secure jail area for video court appearances and secure inmates for appearances at the Saline County Courthouse and other county courts. That means a jail booking can quickly connect to bond, first appearance, prosecutor review, and Missouri Case.net court records.
Note: Confirm custody, bond, visitation, and mail rules with the jail before traveling or sending money.

Roster charge lines may show Cash Only, Cash/Surety, C/S +10%, None Set, or Other. These terms can affect release, but they are not a substitute for direct verification. Warrant holds, probation or parole holds, other-county holds, federal holds, ICE detainers, or no-bond court orders can affect release even when one charge line lists a dollar amount.
